Abideen in line for ABB Fomget FC debut

Nigeria international Suliat Abideen could make her debut for Fomget FC on Sunday (today) as they face ALG Spor in a Turkcell Women’s Football Super League matchday 7 fixture starting at 14:00 at the Osmanlı Stadium, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The former Edo Queens playmaker starred during her first training with the team on Friday, making her a sure bet for the match that will be broadcast live on ABB TV.

Meanwhile, Abideen will be a sore miss for Edo Queens during their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign, but the Nigerian champions have good wishes for the player that has served them conscientiously over the years and penned her a heart-rending farewell message titled ‘Farewell to a True Legend—Suliat Olajumoke Abideen’ on their X handle on Friday.

It reads, “Today, we say goodbye to not only a brilliant player but a remarkable leader and icon of Edo Queens FC, Suliat Abideen. With every game, Suliat showed unmatched commitment, grit, and passion. Her exceptional skill, sharp instincts, and undeniable presence on the field brought immense pride and numerous laurels to our club, including the unforgettable winning goal in the final of the WAFU Zone B tournament. Her contributions have shaped our team and inspired every one of us.
“Suliat, thank you for your leadership, your heart, and your dedication to Edo Queens. You will forever be a part of our legacy, and we know you’ll achieve greatness as you take on this new chapter with ABB Fomget FC. We wish you nothing but success, fulfilment, and continued victories ahead.

Forever a Queen.”

The Super Falcons was given a warm reception by her new club, who announced her signing in a statement on X on Friday.
“Welcome to ABB Fomget, Abideen Suliat! Our club have reached an agreement with Nigerian footballer Abideen Suliat, who last played for Nigeria’s Edo Queens team. We welcome Abideen Suliat to our capital and wish him success under our glorious jersey.” read the post.
